Accessing images.MD
What browser is the best for viewing images.MD?
We recommend Microsoft Internet Explorer (version 4.0 or higher) or Netscape Navigator (version 4.5 or higher). For best viewing, be sure to have JavaScript and cookies turned on in your browser preferences. Please refer the Help section in your browser for additional information on how to change these settings. Windows ME users: We have noticed problems with users accessing the site using this version of Windows and Internet Explorer 6.0. We recommend using Netscape Navigator in this instance.
Can I access images.MD from home and from work?
You can use the site from home or from work if you have a personal subscription. In fact, it can be used from wherever you have access to the Internet. If your institution or library provides your subscription, it may only be available to you through your institution. No concurrent logins are permitted, so if you want to use your account at more than one location, please log out each time.
What should I do if I forget my password?
We provide an online form if you have forgotten your password. We'll send your password to your email address. If you encounter any problems logging onto the site, please contact our customer service department by email at info_phl@currentmedicinegroup.com or call our toll free number (within the U.S.) by dialing 1-800-427-1796, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST.
The images.MD image library
Can I preview images so that I can verify the quality and content of images.MD?
We have a small collection of random sample images in our Sample Images section, available from the home page.
What format and resolution are the images in?
All of our images are 72 dpi, and are saved in JPEG format.
Are the images large enough to be printed?
Our images are only to be used for personal use (for lectures, research, etc.), not for commercial use. Permissions may be requested through our permissions department for printing purposes. In some cases, high resolution files can be provided.
How can I use the content from images.MD?
Subscribers have unlimited personal use of the images for the life of their subscription. This covers lectures, presentations, research, etc. (any non-commercial use). You cannot publish the images, in print on online, without acquring standard permissions through our permissions department. The exception would be for teaching purposes on a password-protected Web site, or printed handouts in a lecture or presentation.
What kind of methods are available to download images?
Currently, there are no simple methods of downloading the entire site, or sections of the site. We do offer our My Slides software that runs on the site. Through My Slides, you can organize and customize slidesets and email PowerPoint® presentations to yourself or a colleague, or have your presentation burned on a CD-ROM.
How many of the images are photographs, illustrations, charts, and graphs versus tables?
Currently there are over 60,000 images (photos, illustrations, charts, graphs, etc.) and over 13,000 tables that make up the entire images.MD library.
I can't seem to find the right kind of images using my search query. What's going on?
Our search engine looks for an exact word match. If you query doesn't return the results you're looking for, we suggest going to the Advanced Search page and typing in your keywords and selecting options from the image type, clinical descriptors, image modality, or specialty menus. Or, search for a more generic topic (such as heart, liver, etc.) and use the filter on the bottom of the search results page to narrow your results. Please also note that images.MD consists of over 70,000 images from across all of medicine and some specialties are currently covered better than others. We have committed resources to continually update the site with new images, thereby covering more areas not yet in our library.
From what sources are these images derived?
Each collection is currently based on atlases published by Current Medicine Group LLC, a company that is world-renowned for its collection of over 100 atlases, spanning the entire spectrum of medicine.
I noticed that the images.MD logo appears on every image. Is this logo going to appear on every image when I become a subscriber?
The logo only appears for visitor status. Once you are subscribed to the service, the logo disappears from the thumbnails and the larger views. You can see samples without the watermarks on our Sample Images page - just click on the thumbnail to see the larger view.

Do you offer limited-time trial subscriptions?
Individuals are not offered sample trials for images.MD at this time. However, your institution may be eligible for a free, limited-time trial. Please provide contact information though our quotation form and we will follow up with the individual responsible for arranging a trial with your institution.
Can I modify or update my subscription form details?
You can change your personal details at any time through the My Profile link on the home page, or by clicking on your name at the top of any other page on the site. Please note that because your email address is used to log onto the site, you will not be able to modify this information online. Should you ever need to change this information, contact our customer service department by email at info_phl@currentmedicinegroup.com or call our toll free number (within the U.S.) by dialing 1-800-427-1796, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST.
What forms of payment are accepted?
Payment can be provided through Visa, MasterCard, and American Express for online, fax, and phone ordering. Credit cards, checks, and money orders are also accepted by mail at Current Medicine Group LLC, 400 Market Street, Suite 700, Philadelphia, PA 19106. For your convenience an order form is available on the site that can be printed, filled out, and either mailed or faxed.
If our institution subscribes, is images.MD available only for specific IP numbers within the institution, or can our faculty and/or students dial up from their home?
The site is only available from specific IP numbers, but faculty and/or students who log onto your institution's network, depending on your setup, might be able to access the site remotely. To do this, they must be assigned an IP address from your institution. If they are dialing up through their own ISP, they will not have access to the site. Alternatively, you can choose images from the service and put them on password-protected sites, as long as it is for educational purposes.
How many IP numbers can you accept for an institutional subscription?
It is preferable to receive IP ranges. We understand that some large institutions will have large ranges, and this is acceptable.
Can our institution and its faculty and/or students use the images in lectures or on educational Web sites?
Yes, you can use the images for as long as your institution remains subscribed to the service, and as long as it is for personal/educational purposes. If you wish to publish the slides online for educational purposes, the site must be password protected and not open to the public. If someone were to need an image for publishing elsewhere, our regular permissions rules and fees apply and permissions can be obtained by contacting permissions@currentmedicinegroup.com.
